This class includes three hand building sessions over the course of three weeks - Monday 14, 21 and 28 September 2026, from 3pm - 5.30pm. This workshop is designed to introduce you to the world of hand building with clay. You will learn the three core techniques used within hand building – pinching, coiling and slab building – and use these to create your own ceramic objects/sculptures. In the first two sessions we’ll focus on building your skills within the three techniques. In the third session we'll give an introduction to glazing and you'll spend the session glazing your own work as well as finishing off any past pieces. This class is suitable for all levels of experience but mostly aimed at beginners. Any participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. If the adult would like to make something too, they must pay full price for a ticket and they will have a separate wheel/work station. This class includes the firing of your work and the glazing of your 3 favourite pieces from a choice of our 4 house glazes. All work will be fired, glazed and ready to collect in 4-5 weeks. You will be notified by email when your work is ready to collect. Our studio is located in Unit 2C within the Deemouth Artist Studios courtyard. There is limited parking available at the studio on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please do not park in spaces with signs dedicated to specific businesses in the courtyard. Your classes may be rescheduled if there are not a sufficient number of participants booked in for your start date. Disclaimer; we can take no responsibility for damage to pieces during firing. Pottery can be unpredictable and sometimes pieces can crack or explode during firing. We cannot guarantee creations will survive 100% of the time.
